Treatable Conditions

Osteopathy is used in the successful treatment of many conditions, including:

Arthritic pain. Arthritis or wear and tear of the joint surfaces which is a normal process associated with ageing. It results in restriction in the movement of the joints plus muscular aches and pains. Osteopathy can help with pain relief.

Babies can suffer from stresses and strains, particularly following a traumatic birth. Osteopathy is used to help these conditions which may present as persistent crying, feeding difficulties and disturbed sleep.

Backache, which affects four out of five people at some point in their lives, most commonly caused by overstraining the structural components of the back.

Children with aches and “growing pains”.

Frozen shoulder.

Headaches, commonly caused by referred pain from tension around the neck and shoulders.

Pregnancy which causes great change in posture that may result in low back pain, sciatica, discomfort around the thorax and indigestion. Postnatally, osteopathy can also help with pelvic problems and pain around the neck and shoulders, often caused by long periods spent feeding.

Joint and muscle strain in any part of the body.

Repetitive strain injury. Caused by repetitive movements, such as those suffered by computer keyboard operators or ‘tennis/golfers elbow’ and ‘shin splints’.

Sports injuries, whether through riding, running, skiing, climbing, tennis, cricket, Osteopathy can help you get back to sport more quickly.

Trapped nerves such as sciatica, caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve, which results in pain in the leg. It is most commonly due to pain referred from a back injury and this can usually be successfully treated.
